Roses are Red, Violets are Blue

if roses are red and violets are blue, then what the hell is the colour violet?

2. The rhyme's is wrong (artistic licence), violets are violet.
3. If think it refers to the different shade of blue, just a different tone, but the poem is being very matter of fact about love and what the colur of these flowers really are!

9. Violets aren't blue, they are purple, but nothing rhymes with purple ! Delphiniums & hydrangeas are both blue, but they are big words for little kids.
